If you haven’t been to NaCoMe Camp and Conference Center, you have been missing a treat! It is located a short distance off Highway 100, West of Centerville, tucked alongside the cool waters of Sulphur Creek, a true woodland treasure. It is a place for fun, spiritual growth and fellowship in God’s natural setting. It offers camp and retreat experience to a wide range of groups and people throughout the year.

The climate controlled cabins and meeting spaces are home away from home for many visitors across the Southeast year round. It offers week long options for rising 3rd graders to 12th graders and weekend options for families with younger children. They offer over night summer camps, college orientation, and football camps along with many others. A creek runs through the property for crawdad hunting and there’s a big swimming hole if you dare to jump into the COLD water! A lake is nearby for boating or kayaking. Other activities include archery, zip lines, Jedi dodge ball, and more.

Great cooking is part of their mission for campers and weekend retreats as food is served the old fashioned way, home style. They offer a Thanksgiving Day meal for guests to come and enjoy with a large buffet to choose from. A great way to enjoy that always special meal and you leave all the dishes and the clean up behind! This writer can personally testify to this!

NaCoMe Camp and Conference Center roots date back to 1832 when Joseph Jones, of Maury County, Tennessee built a hotel and forty individual cabins to rent to guests, known then as Beaverdam Springs. It is recorded that former US President, James K. Polk, in poor health, was vacationing there in 1835 to restore in the recuperative waters.

During the years the property was owned by various people but was purchased in 1940 by the Tennessee Synod of the Presbyterian Church and the name was changed to NaCoMe, the abbreviation of Nashville, Columbia and Memphis. The three have since become two: the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee and Mid South Presbytery which jointly own NaCoMe Camp and Conference Center.

Since that time, thousands have enjoyed the true hidden treasure of this retreat in worship, fellowship and fun!

  1. I and many others have enjoyed the area for so very long. I first came as a young adult as a group
of scouters to the camp, twice again as an adult part of a church group retreat.
I would like to know what the cost of for a group aprox.35 would be???? I’m thinking
sometime in summer or early fall season.
